ＳＡＸリペアー進行状況その5(Report of SAX repair No.5)

新しいタンポを注文してありますがまだ入荷していません。そこでネックコルクの巻き替えをしました。先ず古いコルクをカッターで剥ぎ取りその跡をアセトンで清掃しました。1ｍｍ厚のコルク板にＧ17のボンドを塗り、ネック側にも同じように塗って約１０分乾燥させてから張り合わせました。接続部分をカミソリで斜めにカットしたあと、サンドペーパーで所定の厚みまで擦り落としてマウスピースがちょうど良く納まるようにしました。ネックコルクの巻き替えは以外に簡単だと思いました。

I already ordered new tone hole pads but not I received them yet so I replaced the neck colk. First I removed the damaged colk and cleaned the neck pipe. I used a knife to ｐｅｅｌ off the colk and cut the think colk plate by a sharp rasor to meke the edge sloped so that to fit each edge smoothly. I used G-17 bond as it was recommended by YAMAHA's staff.
I thought it was quite easy to replece the neck colk.

錆取りとクリーニングがほぼ終了しました。細かい部分の錆取りはやはり錆取りの薬剤を使用したことで錆取りが楽になりました。これから更に磨き上げて、表面を塗装の食いつきを良くするためにプライマー処理を行い、その後でクリアーラッカーで仕上げます。従ってかなり艶が出て綺麗になります。

The rust removement and cleaning has almost done. To remove the rust on small portions were rather difficult but it was very good to use the rust remover chemical because the chemical was well penetrate into small rusty portion and it makes easy to remove the rust. I will do shining work more and primary treatement so that to keep good adhesion of paint. After primary treatement I will paint clear laquer on it to have more shiny surface of this alto saxophone.

今日はメインボディーをばらしました。トーンレバーの錆取りは後にして先ずベルを綺麗にしてみようと思いました。錆がひどくどうしても満足の出来る状態にはなりません。錆取りの薬剤を注文しておきましたのでこれが届いたら本格的にきれいに磨き上げようと思います。

Today I took the main body apart into two and I cleaned the Bell portion. However, the the rust is so heavy and it was very difficult to make it a shiny body. Then I ordered a chemical to remove the heavy rust. I think it would be rather easy to make the Bell more shiny.

ＳＡＸリペアー進行状況その2(Report of SAX repair No.2)

オンボロ赤錆ＳＡＸの修復作業は２日目です。今日はネック、サイドキー３本、下のＢ♭キーとＤ＃キーなどを磨きました。明日は大きなトーンレバー８個を外します。そのあとはいよいよ管体の磨きになりますが、トーンレバー取り付け用の角がいっぱいあるので非常に磨きの作業やりにくそうです。

It is the second day of repairing the old rusty SAX. I cleaned up three side keys,lower B♭key, lower D# key and the neck. Tomorrow I will remove large 8 tone levers. After that it will then start main body cleaning work. However, it would be very hard work because there are so many lever supporting posts standing around every where of the main body.

比較的細かい部品から外して磨きをかけました。塗装剥離剤のＭ－201はあまり効果がないようです。従ってサンドペーパーでラッカー塗装を落としてから磨きました。鏡面仕上げをするつもりですがどうしてもサンダー目が多少残ってしまいます。

パームキー、オクターブキー、サイドキーなどを先ず外しました。

Before cleaning

I started the SAX repairment. First I took out small parts such as octave key, side keys and the palm keys as shown in the picture. Paint remover M-201 was not good enough to remove the laquer paint then I used sand paper and then polished in mirror surface but the marks or the scratches of the sand paper remain slightly.

真っ赤に錆びたオンボロサックス

写真のような真っ赤に錆びたオンボロのアルトサックスを手に入れました。以前からサックスのリペアーの練習用になるべくボロなサックスを探していました。古いサックスは何故かかなり高価でブランド品だと普通の新品のサックスが買える価格になってしまいます。触るのも嫌なくらい錆がありましたが、凹みやキズはなく、何とか修復出来そうです。もちろんこれでは演奏は出来ませんでした。しかし分解、清掃をする前に一応はトーンホールの調整やレバーの調整をした結果全ての音階で音が出るようになり一応は演奏が出来るようになりました。まだレバーのストロークの不揃いやガタなどがあり、錆による動きの鈍さもあります。これから全てを分解し、ラッカー塗装を完全に剥がしてから磨き上げてプライマー処理や最終仕上げ塗装をします。自分用として少し変わったデザインのカラー塗装も施してみようと思います。かなり難しい困難な仕事になりそうですが以前に行ったテナーサックスよりはうまく出来ると思います。これから順次工程順にブログで報告して行きます。

これはブランド物ではありません。恐らく台湾製だと思います。構造はほとんどヤマハの物にそっくりです。
I found a very ols and full rusty alto saxophone as shown in the pictures. This is what I have been looking for. I couldn't understand why these old rusty musical instrument is so expensive. This was cost \6500. I will use this SAX for my study of how the SAX is assembled and how to maintain to keep good sound. This has no dent or scratches but just very rusty. Before I take the all parts out I adjusted tone hole pads and lever movement. I tried to play the SAX even it was very dirty and hesitate to touch on it but it makes a good sound and I played some piece of music. I will peel off all paint and polish to be a beautiful saxopnone I thought I can repair and make it a shiny one. It would be a very hard work for me. I will paint some colorful design on it for my favorite one. I wll report all steps of this repairement on my blog.
