シングルレバーパドル「Ｍａｇｎｅｔｉｚｅｒ」が完成 通算製作番号 Ｎｏ.965号

強力なネオジム磁石を４個使ったシングルレバーパドルです。磁石の吸引力が強いのでレバーの中点の位置が安定しています。前回作ったのはレバーがストレートな形状でしたが今回のは磁石を４個使っておりスペースの関係からレバーをＴ型にしました。レバーのＴ型にした部分の板厚が1.5ｍｍと比較的薄いのでしなやかでありソフトで軽快なタッチになりました。

I made a single lever paddle using four very strong Neodymium magnets. The neutral position is very stable as the magnetic force is very strong. The lever shape of the former one was just straight but this time I made the lever in T shape due to spacing problem. The feeling is very good as the thin lever plate is easy to bend to absorb the hitting force.

取り外した全ての部品の磨き上げが終わり、プライマー処理とクリアーラッカーの塗装が終わりました。いよいよ本体の錆落としと磨きの作業が始まりました。当初予定していたよりペースが早いのでもう少し時間をかけるようにします。問題は針バネが硬く固着していて外れないことです。全ての針バネを切断すれば針バネ用のペンチ（自作のペンチ）で外せますが、まだまだ針バネは使えるのでそのまま使うことにします。しかし磨く時に手に刺さるので小さなゴムのブロックを針バネの先端に刺して手には刺さらないようにしました。

I have already finished cleaning and clear lacquer painting of the all removed parts and I started cleaning the main body. But I think the working pace is too fast than expected time then I have to slow down the pace. The needle springs are very difficult to remove as thes are stuck very hard if I cut all springs it can be easy to remove by a needle spring pinch which I made but the spring are still very good and OK to reuse. However, when I polishe the main body the springs are very dangerous because it will stick into my fingers. I put some small rubber blocks at the top of the springs to avoid get stuck into my finger.

ボランティアー演奏

先日ある介護施設でのボランティアー演奏を依頼されたので行ってきました。私はアルトサックスと電子楽器のＥＷＩ－5000をもって行き、他の３人はMusical Saw　とロシアの電子楽器のマトリョーミンでした。まずＥＷＩ－5000をオルガンの音色にセットして夕焼け小焼けをスローテンポで情景豊かに演奏し、知床旅情、夜霧よ今夜もありがとう、瀬戸の花嫁、朧月夜、爽やか自然百景など全部で１４曲を交互に披露しました。お年寄りには一緒に歌ってもらったりして有意義なひと時でした。来月もまた依頼されています。

The other day we went to a day care center in Chigasaki and played musics as a volunteer work. I played alto saxophone and EWI-5000 the electronic instrument and other three people played musical saw. First I played "Yuuyake Koyake" the evening glow by EWI-5000 in organ sound. I played it very slowly within full of emotion.

今日はサイドキー２個、Ｇキー、それとオクターブキーの開閉ストッパーのレバーなどを磨き、更にオクターブキーのリンク機構も磨きました。一番沢山部品が入った箱の写真は今までにきれいにした部品が一つの箱に入っているものです。これからは本体に縦に並んでいるトーンレバーを９個磨きあげるといよいよ本管の清掃と磨きあげ、塗装などになります。それらが終了すると今度はタンポ更にタンポを接着して組み立て調整の作業になります。

I cleaned and polished the side levers, G key,and octave keys. After this polishing the remained 9 another levers those are still on the main body will be cleaned and then the cushion pad so called TANPO will be installed.

今日は一番大きなタンポホルダーを持つレバーの磨きあげをしました。ローラーも外してシャフトの錆をとり回転が円滑になりました。低音部のC,B,及びB♭のレバーです。

Today I polished three big tone levers low C,low B and low B♭.　Ｉ　ａｌｓｏ　the rollers and cleaned them, too.

今日はロッドが一番長いＤ＃キーを磨きました。やり方はいつもと同じなので省略します。

テナーサックス ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡ バタフライのRestoration Ｎｏ.8

今回はパームキーのＤのレバーを磨きあげました。サンドペーパーで錆と古い塗装膜をはがし、粗いコンパウンドで磨いてからさらに超仕上げコンパウンドで綺麗に艶出しを行い、プライマリー処理をしてからクリアーラッカーをかけました。かなり綺麗になったと思います。
I polished one of the palm key levers which is the D key the longest one. First I cleaned the rust and old paint skin by a piece of sand paper and polished with rough compound and then finished with a very fine polishing compound so that to be very shiny. After that I did the primary treatment  before the lacquer painting. The lever became very shiny !!

テナーサックス ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡ バタフライのRestoration Ｎｏ.7

今日は一番大きなトーンホールのキーガード（バタフライ型？）を磨いて塗装をしました。先ず、サンドペーパーで錆を落とし次に微細粒子の超仕上げコンパウンドで艶が出るまで磨き次に洗浄してからシンナーでさらに洗い、塗装の食いつきが良くなるようにプライマー処理をしてからクリアーラッカーをかけました。見違えるようにきれいになりました。いよいよこれからはサックス本体のレストアーの作業になります。
Today I cleaned up the big tone hole guard shaped like a butterfly and painted clear lacquer. First I polished it using a piece of sandpaper and polished again using a very fine compound to make it shiny and then put a primer paint so that to make a good paint adhesion and finally painted the clear lacquer. It became very beautiful as if it is a new one. Now i am going to restore the main sax body from now on..

テナーサックス ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡ バタフライのRestoration Ｎｏ.6

テナーサックス　ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡ　のバタフライのＲｅｓｔｏｒａｔｉｏｎ　でネックの最終磨きあげとクリアーラッカーの塗装及びネックコルクの巻替えが完了しました。あとは8ｍｍφのタンポを付ければ完成です。

I have finally finished polishing the neck of Yanagisawa's tenor sax so called Butterfly and painted clear lacquer on it. I also replaced the neck cork with new one as shown in the pictures. When I put a 8mm diameter tone hole pad the neck will be fully completed.

テナーサックス ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡのバタフライ Restoration No.5

　バタフライのオクターブキーのレバーが完成しました。本体に取り付けて確認したところオクターブキーのレバーを押すことでうまく動作します。あとはもう一度仕上げの磨きをしてからクリアーラッカーをかけ、その後ネックコルクの巻替えをします。

下側の写真がオクターブキーを押してトーンホールを開いたところです。

The octave key lever has completed and the movement of the tone hole cup is very good as shown in the pictures. I will put a new cork on the mouth piece pipe after i polished the neck in more clean surface condition within clear lacquer painted.

バタフライRestoration No.4

ネック部オクターブキーのレバーを製作しています。レバーの製作とタンポ皿の取り付けが完了です。タンポ皿は１０φの真鍮丸棒に８φのエンドミルで凹みを付けてレバーの先端に半田付けしました。管体側のロッドとの勘合部分はこれから３φ程度の真鍮丸棒を曲げて製作する予定です。見た目はあまり良くないようですが動作には問題ないでしょう。！

Now I am making the octave key lever using a 3mm brass plate as shown in the picture.

バタフライRestoration No.3 ネックの磨きあげ

ネックの古くなったコルクをはがし、全体の磨きあげをしました。これからネックコルクの巻替え、ラッカー塗装、差し込み口の外径アップなどの作業があります。これらの仕事が終わったらいよいよオクターブキーのレバーの製作になります。
下側の写真が磨いた後です。小さな凹みなどを修正しましたが完全な平面にはできません。

I scraped off the old cork and cleaned up the neck and also repaired the dents. It is very difficult to repair the dents portion completely to be flat. I am going to make a octave key lever and adjust the neck diameter and so on.

バタフライのRestoration No.2

バタフライ型のガードを取り付けるサポート金具が１個欠品していて、もう一つは半田が外れていたのでこれを修復しました。欠品していたサポート金具は１０φの真鍮丸棒から旋盤で削りだして製作し、ガードは全体を磨きました。半田付けの際に半田がはみ出して見苦しくなっていますが、まあ素人の作業なのでこれで良しとします。要は外れなければいいのです。！

真ん中の写真のサポート金具は自作した物で下の写真は半田が外れていた金具。

I repaired the guard support fittings. One was came off and the other one was missinng. I made a support fitting using a 10 φ　brass rod cutting by my lathe and soldered those two fittings as shown in the pictures. I think it is not good looking but it would be OK if it has no trouble when playing the Sax.

バタフライのRestoration Ｎｏ.１ いよいよ開始

Ｙａｎａｇｉｓａｗａ　のビンテージ　テナーサックス　バタフライの　修復作業を今日から開始しました。まずは修復の可能性についての確認作業です。オクターブキーのリンク機構が硬く固着していて動きが悪い。調べた結果貫通しているシャフトが曲がっていましたので真っ直ぐに修正し円滑に動くようにしました。下のＣ＃のシャフトが曲がっていたので取り外してまっすぐに修正しタンポ皿の曲がりも修正しました。パームキーのタンポ皿３か所を中心に来るように修正しました。ネックの径が小さいので0.3ｍｍ厚の真鍮板を巻き付けてテストした結果ちょうどよいのでこれから半田付けして仕上げます。ネックのオクターブキーのレバーはこれからまず型紙で型を作りそれから3ｍｍ厚の真鍮板を切り出して製作します。、、、ということで修復できることが十分に確認できました。これからじっくりと分解、磨き、清掃、タンポ交換、調整などの作業が始まります。今回は写真はありません。

I just started the restoration work for the butterfly today.I just want to evaluate the possibilities to repair this Sax. The octave key link mechanize is very hard to move.It ws because the shaft was bended.So I removed the shaft and make it straight and then it was very smooth to move again. And i adjusted some tanpo pad plates to be placed on the good positions. I will put a very thin brass plate 0.3mm thick on the neck so that to be good to insert into the main body. And finally I just realizes that it is just available to repair this Sax butterfy.   

非常に古いテナーサックス バタフライ「ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡ」

非常に古いテナーサックスを入手しました。ＹＡＮＡＧＩＳＡＷＡのもので通称はバタフライと呼ばれているようです。ＢやＢ♭のトーンホールが左側にあります。またＧ＃のキーは右手側からも操作が出来るようになっていて今のタイプとは大きく異なっています。これを修復するのは非常に大変な仕事になると思われます。大きな問題点が２つあります。一つはネックの径がちいさいのでネジを締め込んでも締め付けが出来ません、これは純正のネックではないかも知れません。もう一つはネックのオクターブキーレバーが欠品しています。おそらく入手は出来ないのでこれは真鍮材から自作する予定です。その他に半田外れが２か所、トーンレバーの曲がりが数か所、針バネの欠品やシャフトのネジの錆による固着があり、全体にガタもあり、錆がかなり強いようです。じっくりと時間をかけて修復を楽しんで行きます。１年くらいはかかりそうです。

I just got a very very old tenor saxophone[Prima made by Yanagisawa」.It had been called butterfly as the big tone hole gurd is shaped like a butterfly as shown in the picture above.There is a strange key G# key for right hand I don't know how to use this key. There are two big problems to restore this Sax. One is the lever for neck octave key is missed and another is very loos neck diameter it is impossible to fasten the neck as it is too loose(small).I think the neck is not a proper parts for this Sax. I am going to make those missed parts and amend the problemed parts by myself in the future. I thnk it will take much time to repair those things.I will enjoy the restoration work in the future. it may take one year. 

ストレートキー「Ｖｉｃｔｏｒｙ」の製作

Ｖｉｃｔｏｒｙと命名したストレートキーを製作しました。このキーは昨年のハムフェアーにおける自作品コンテストで最優秀賞「総務大臣賞」を獲得したキーと同じ設計で製作しました。コンテストに出品したキーは黒っぽい色の大理石を使いましたが今回は落ち着いた木材「ブビンガという南洋産の硬い木」を台座に使いました。底面には1.5ｍｍ厚のステンレス板を取り付けました。日本アマチュア無線連盟によるこのキーの評価はとにかく非常に打ち易いという事でした。製作者本人が言うのもおかしいですが確かにとても打ち易い電鍵です。

I made a straight key named Victory. I was recommended as a first rated prize for the home made craft contest held in last August in Tokyo for my Key. This time I made in same design key with the first prized key. I used a very hard wood named bubinga which was grown in the south sea lslands in stead of black marble stone. I put a 1.5mm thick stainless steel plate on the bottom. Japan Amateur Radii League members evaluated this Key as is is very good operation feeling and I think it is just so did I.
