White Eagle とAphrodite

複式電鍵「White eagle」と縦振り電鍵「Aphrodite」がご依頼者に届き、その写真が送られてきました。White eagleのレバー（指当て板）はオリジナルの物ではワインレッド色のアクリル製でしたが、これを縞黒檀の5ｍｍ厚の板で作りました。Aphroditeのつまみとフィンガーレストも縞黒檀で製作しました。縞黒檀の購入時の材料は50ｍｍ×40ｍｍの角材でしたが、これを40ｍｍ角の正方形にしてから中心部にＭ4のネジを切ってそこに旋盤チャックで把持出来るように9ｍｍφの軸を先ず取り付けてから丸棒に加工しました。丸棒にかこうしてから特殊治具（自作）を使ってつまみの形状に切削しました。White Eagle 用の指当て板（5ｍｍ厚）やフィンガーレストの約3ｍｍ厚の板を切り出すのは高速回転のテーブルソーを使いましたがワーク自体が50ｍｍ角と小さいのでかなり危険な作業になります。そこでワークを手て抑えるのではなく木材で手の代わりになる抑え治具を作ってから切断作業を慎重に行いました。木材は一般的に表面を磨いても艶が出にくいのですが縞黒檀も同様に木目の直角方向の面は特に艶を出すことは出来ません。そのままの木目の味を活かすという事にしました。

Two keys "White Eagle" and "Aphrodite" has safely delivered to a cstomer and he send me these photos. The original finger plate for white Eagle was made of wine red colored plastic plate but I made this using a striped pattern ebony wood. The knob and the finger rest plate were also made of same ebony. The shape of the ebony wood was a 50mm×40mm squared timber so I cut it into 40mm×40ｍｍ regular square shape and then I put M4 tap in the center of the material so that I can hold it by a lathe chuck. I put a 9mmφ shaft into this M4 screw hole and set on the lathe then I made a 30mmφ round rod. I made a knob using a spacial jig made by myself. I think it was very dangerous to cut such a small work piece on a high speed table saw so I made a wooden holding device to hold the worl piece to avoide from the dangerous cutting work. It was very hard to make a luster og gloos surface for those wood material so i decided to enjoy it's natural sureface instead of making gloss suraface.
